The Coach in Perspective
The Coach in Perspective
The coach, regardless of the level he or she is operating at, must know WHAT (s)he is doing and WHY (s)he is doing it, but more importantly, (s)he must be able to LEAD those under him /her into doing it spontaneously.
Results alone will not determine the good coach. The coach’s strengths will be revealed by the discipline, determination, meticulous preparation, attention to detail and readiness to adapt and compete.
An effective coach will enable his athletes /team to achieve a satisfying competitive performance through a stimulating coaching environment, that allows for enjoyment, two way dialogue and all benefit from the sporting experience.
A coach must at all times be honest, have integrity, not be afraid of failure (not winning), because ultimately, these traits will bring credit to coaching, demonstrate the highest levels of probity to the athletes, teams, supporters and the sporting organisation they are representing.
