Carry To The Shooters

Traditional forward play worked off the basis of having creators in the half forward line, setting up danger men in the full forward line. ( Think Greg Blaney-Mickey Linden, Trevor Giles - Ollie Murphy)

With the evolution of sweepers, and mass defences, this strategy effectively disappeared. But the goal for most teams is often still the same, get the ball to your shooters in space as often as you can.

If you can't kick it to them quickly ( which you should do....), the next best thing to do, is to carry it them. 

This takes patience and a different awareness from inside players, but done well, it is extremely hard to defend and very effective.
